SoundEscape is a website run by Vladyslav Nedodaiev. For questions or requests about your data, write to [email protected].

The short version

Anonymous counts

What's counted:

How: your browser sends a short message to soundescape.app, and the server adds one to that day's total for that event. Nothing else is kept: no IP address, no browser or device details, no identifier, no time beyond the date. The totals live in a Cloudflare database in Western Europe and are kept indefinitely; they describe the site, not people.

Nothing is sent if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal; in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland until you choose "Count it"; and anywhere once you turn counting off. Your answer is kept in your browser for a year.

In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland counting rests on your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a) and the ePrivacy rules on using your device). You can withdraw it at any time with the switch above, as easily as you gave it.

What's kept in your browser

The site uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) for your current mix, volume, Drift and which groups are open, so they're there next time, and for your answer about counting. None of it is sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Your mix is also written into the page address after the #, which browsers don't send to servers. It goes wherever you share the link, and nowhere else.

Hosting

Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site and runs the counting. Like any web host it handles your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, which is our legitimate interest in running a working, safe site (GDPR article 6(1)(f)). See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, its UK extension and the Swiss–US framework. Fonts and every other file come from soundescape.app itself; no other service is contacted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or erase personal data about you, object to its use, and complain to your data protection authority. The anonymous totals can't be linked to you, so there is usually nothing to look up, but write to [email protected] and you'll get an answer.

In the US: SoundEscape doesn't sell or share personal information (as California law defines it) and doesn't use it for targeted advertising. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track are honoured. The site isn't directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information.

Changes
